Ducks in a Row is a fast observation card game for 2 to 9 players.

Players take turns flipping cards face up onto a shared grid. When you see three cards in a row that match by colour or by duck type, shout “QUACK!” before any other player. The first player to shout wins those three cards.

Watch the grid carefully. A match can appear horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The Lucky Duck card matches any colour or duck type. The Duck Out card wins you an entire stack of cards without shouting. The Ugly Duck card takes away one point from any player who wins it.

The player with the most points at the end of the game wins. Each game takes approximately 10 minutes.

Turn one card face up onto the grid

On your turn, flip the top card from your Play Pile face up and place it on the grid. Cards are placed one at a time. Watch the grid as it fills up.

Spot three cards in a row

Look for three cards in a row on the grid with the same colour or the same duck type. A match can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. The Lucky Duck card matches any colour or any duck type.

Shout first and win the cards

The first player to shout “QUACK!” when a match appears on the grid wins all three cards and adds them to their Flock Pile. Be fast — any other player can shout first.

MATCHES ANYTHING

The Lucky Duck is a wild card. It matches any colour and any duck type on the grid. When a Lucky Duck appears on the grid, it can be part of any match. Lucky Duck cards are worth one point each at the end of the game. In a tie, the player with the most Lucky Duck cards in their Flock Pile wins.

DON’T BE FOOLED!

The Ugly Duck is a trap card. If you shout “QUACK!” on a match that includes an Ugly Duck, that card stays in your Flock Pile and takes away one point at the end of the game.

WIN THE WHOLE STACK

If a Duck Out card is flipped on top of any stack on the grid, the player who flipped it takes that entire stack immediately. No need to shout “QUACK.” Duck Out cards are worth zero points, but the cards underneath them may be worth several points.
