Madhav (Raj Kapoor) is a young poet whose songs are played on the radio. All his songs talk about a woman that has stolen his heart (Chitchor). But, no one is aware of this person… A listener Rajkumari (Madhubala) becomes one of his fans and is keen to meet him. Hence, she gives an idea to her father Thakur Sangram Singh to interview the poet so that it would create some king of curiosity among the readers and in turn there would be a momentum in the sale of his paper. But, as Madhav and Raj Kumari exchange glances they at once fall in love… Much against her father’s wish, as he believes poets cannot be relied upon and that they happen to be flirts and instead wants his daughter to get married to a Rajput – Banke who is Madhav’s best friend. He along with his Munshiji weaves different plans to create a rift between Rajkumari & Madhav.
