1958 The birth

The Giacobazzi Winery is located in Nonantola, in the province of Modena, a city famous for good food and for being the birthplace of personalities such as Enzo Ferrari and Luciano Pavarotti.

For generations our family had been dedicated to the cultivation of the countryside and the vineyard but it was only in 1958 that Angelo Giacobazzi, together with his son Antonio, decided to expand and strengthen the small family winery. Shortly thereafter, the name Giacobazzi would become synonymous with Lambrusco.

1958-1962 The first steps

The late fifties and early sixties were the years of experimentation and refinement, dedicated to the enhancement of grapes from the family vineyards.

Those were the years of the first sales in jute sacks closed with rope or in heavy grape crates on ox-drawn carts. The bottles bore handwritten labels and were corked with cork hand-tied with string.

1963-1968 Growth

Development was rapid and already in the mid-sixties we were selling our renowned Bollino Oro (Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC refermented in the bottle) in the taverns and cafes of the major Italian cities.

It was therefore decided to invest to equip itself with more modern machines that would allow the company to make a qualitative leap both from a production and an organizational point of view. This impulse led in the mid-sixties, to a daily production of about 10,000 bottles, obtained with semi-automatic machinery.

It was 1979 when to meet the needs of an important English customer who was looking for a healthy product suitable for everyone, Antonio had the idea of ​​a non-alcoholic and sparkling grape juice.

The presentation was elegant, champagne-like, with a whole variety of flavors, in the happy combination of grapes and other fruits such as peach, strawberry and apple. The name he chose was inspired by the legendary director Federico Fellini, and therefore, as he had called the wine in a can 8 and 1/2, playing between alcohol content and the title of the Oscar film in 1963, he called Dolce Vita the juice of ‘grape. Also in this case, success was not long in coming.
